Gen X

This was a double page spread in Generation X. This was like my second issue of Marvel Work...ever.

Funny story, I think it was at megacon in 98 or 99. I was showing my stuff around when I saw Tim Townsend walking around . He told me to come by where he was sitting and show me the new samples and say hey. So later i did, I beleive he was doing a signing and was sitting with an Editor,.. ( I cant remember at the moment .. having brain fart) . Anyway, Tim checks iout my samples and the editor looks over his shoulder and asks to check it out when Tims done. So the editor is kinda joking with me as he picks the good and bad apart and then , and I remember it was kinda busy at the table, but he just casually says " heres my number gimme a call".

Well , me, mister timid , assumed he was just being nice and i assumed it was kinda a blow off ( keep in mind ...not a lot of self esteem at the time) So , 2 months later or something , the Editor calls ME and says " hey man , why didn't you call, I got work for you ...."

I felt like the biggest doofus in the world. Luckily, he gave me some work and turned out to be one of the nicest folks during the Bob Harras era. Its a shame he got shuffled out in that House cleaning because he was one of the best editors I ever worked with. Really encouraging and let me go have fun on the art.


BTW, on a side note, the inks are by Vince Russell. He did a killer job on inks. I wished I coulda worked with him more . I love his stuff. Id've locked down as my inker if I could..im greedy like that....LOL
