Heres a cover from my run on Sigil from Crossgen. I just recently came across the file and some others.
I really dig this for a number of reasons. (Im really hoping this doesnt come off badly but here goes...)
1) Its my first work with a bud of mine, Don Hillsman. He did a wonderful job here. I really love the synthesis of working with different inkers but theres something magical when you see something that is so much stronger together than the indvidual parts. I have been blessed to get to see my stuff inked by some of the greats in the Industry...Wiacek, Perez, Dex Vines, Mark Morales, and the Great T-Dog Tim Townsend to name a few. I just hope to get to be paired for a longer stretch with a talent like Don or find someone that I can get to stick with that meshes with my stuff in a way that can be my own Terry Austin.
2) This is where I learned to trust my gut. I was given some ideas for a cover but when I read the script and also was given some character backgrounds , this image came to my head. I couldnt't get it outta my head and is one of the few times the Image just came to me. I did up several cover sketches based on their direction and then faxed mine in too ( hey it was 2000..c'mon)
why would you say what you wrote might sound bad? I don't see a problem one bit, just like i don't see a problem with this work.... I definitely enjoyed what you did on Sigil for Crossgen. It was a great company for new ideas and great energy. I wish the company was still around cool cover, makes me wanna go read my Corssgen books over again=]

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
